Learning In Public

Learning In Public

Hi folks, Welcome to my first blog, here, I am sharing what I have learnt about building a public profile, networking and learning in public.

First of all, What exactly is Learning In Public?

Learning in public is all about you creating content of any form that is accessible to other people, posting about your learnings on socials and sharing the good work you do in the community.

Why should we practice Learning In Public?

  • By learning in public, you are sharing your knowledge with the community instead of just keeping it to yourself.

  • You are documenting the journey of your learnings which in fact is a goldmine for some other like-minded fellow who wants to pursue the same.

  • You get some great feedback from the community too. Suppose you are building a project and you keep posting about it in the community, then you get some really helpful insights about that project from the experts of the community itself, which is AWESOME!

  • Learning is public helps in building credibility. The more and more you post, people would know that you are working hard and you are being consistent about your work.

  • As a result of this solid credibility, you get a bunch of opportunities without even applying for them, since people know how is your work, and how consistent, and knowledgeable you are because you never know who is there behind the computer screen and reading your posts, articles and blogs. So, a big Thumbs Up!

  • Also, one of the biggest advantages of Learning In Public is the network you build, you get to interact and collaborate with like-minded fellows and experts too, which is amazing.

Okay, Fair enough, But how to practice this Learning In Public gig?

It's actually pretty simple, just be active on socials like Twitter and LinkedIn, document your learnings on these platforms, write some blog posts on Hashnode, et cetera.

Remember, it's not bragging if you are posting the good work you are doing, in fact, it's actually helping a lot of other people around the globe.
